It is not easy to win at the Stadium of Light and it's always difficult to play at your best when you don't go for something concrete. But we still managed another victory away from home.
This one gave us 83 points and I think that is respectable. I have won titles with less but it highlights the number of points required this year. There was very little difference between the three teams who fought for the title. Man United finished with 87, Chelsea 85 and we finished with 83.
Of course Sunday's game was an anti-climax, but part of our role is to do the job when it is less prestigious and glamorous. We did that well. We scored and we should have scored more.
We also had a very young side out. The average age was 22.3 without the bench. With the bench that would have gone done to 20 with Randall, Traore, Nordtveit, Barazite and Mannone.
It is disappointing to see another team win the the title because you don't fight and work as hard as we did all season just to finish third. But there is hope for the future if you can make 83 points with such a young side.
