2007-09-03 : Arsenal v Portsmouth

We produced an outstanding performance against Portsmouth on Sunday and we were tested in all areas of the pitch.

In the first half we played some fantastic football and always looked threatening. We were two up and looked dangerous. We were tested mentally in the second half when Philippe Senderos was sent off but we responded well.

Since the beginning of the season you can see there is something happening in this team. They fight for each other, there's a great togetherness and a great love for the game. You see the team is happy to play the way they play.

As far as the red card is concerned, I feel the referee had no choice but to send Philippe off if Kanu was not offside.

We play attacking football because we are ambitious. This team has been built to have an attacking personality, that means it's very important they express themselves and I think when you watch the game you see that. We always try to go forward. Even at 3-1, with 10 men and two minutes to go, we still attack.

I think Tomas Rosicky had an outstanding game in the middle of the park, Cesc Fabregas as well, but everybody had a great attitude, a great spirit. It's a pleasure to watch this team because you don't cheat people, you can feel the vibes coming out of the team when you sit in the stand and watch them.

Fabregas is scoring goals now and I am not surprised. I made a tape of him last year and you wouldn't believe how many chances he had. In some games he had three chances. He scored goals when he was young and, although that disappeared, it can come back when you mature.

Cesc has similar characteristics to Paul Scholes, I think. His frame, his intelligence in the game, his passing ability, knowing when to go in the box. And of course Cesc is only 20, people forget that.

Finally, a word about my future. I have been asked a lot about signing a new contract. We have a little break now and that situation could progress and advance. We have some time to meet and it should progress this week.
